Why pot strainers are essential for keeping contaminants out of pipelines in hygienic processing
Hygienic processing industries such as food, beverage, brewing, and cosmetics use stainless steel pot strainers to prevent contamination and protect equipment.
Also known as pump protection strainers, they’re typically installed before a pump to prevent contaminants going through it. This not only stops anything from entering the pump but also reduces the risk of damage and need for downtime.
What is a pot strainer?
Pot strainers consist of a Stainless Steel body (as shown below), with a removeable wedge wire element basket inside. As product flows through the strainer, the element traps particles that would contaminate the line. The clean product flows through the pipework, while the basket traps any contaminants.

Cleaning a pot strainer.
Luckily, our pot strainers are designed to be easily cleaned! We manufacture the wedge wire elements to come complete with a handle. To remove the element, simply dissemble the clamp union and remove the element by pulling the handle.
You can manually rinse the element to remove debris or backwash it. Since the elements flow from outside to inside, both methods work effectively and minimize downtime.
Element sizing.
We size all our wedge wire elements in microns and offer a wide range of sizes available from 10 micron to 7500 micron, meaning you will be able to find the perfect fit for any application.

Why Stainless Steel?
Hygienic processing industries frequently use stainless steel, and we manufacture all our strainers with high-quality grade 316 stainless steel to ensure corrosion resistance and meet hygiene standards.
